Some people find yoga as a physical practice, something that will help us blossom in strength, agility and weight loss. However this ancient sacred practice does far more than that--it connects us to nature, the Divine Mother, an aspect that many of us lose sight of in our every day lives. Today our world is full of chemical-based foods that out bodies cannot break down--mainly because these foods are easy to make and grab on the fly--and medicine that contradicts our bodies' natural cycles--for instance, a birth control that regulates our moon cycle to only four times a year. And although the rational/intellectual mind is useful in the work place, and helpful in determining what subway train to jump on, it hinders us and our ability to heal ourselves from within.
You only have to look as far as the closest farmer's market to know what you should be eating. Right now you might see green apples and root vegetables. Keeping in mind that nature takes care of us, most things of an orange color courtesy of our Divine Mother are good for your skin, so grab yourself a butternut squash and save yourself some money instead of buying an expensive, chemically-laden skin product you might find at Saks or Bloomingdales.
Take a second to think about what you're eating, and how it's working for YOU!
"Nature expresses herself by providing food for every species, by creating air and the means to breathe it, and by moving in rhythms and cycles that keep all life in harmony." Bri. Maya Tiwari
