Volunteers make an enormous
contribution
to keeping
Riverside
Park clean
and green. Groups work over 10,000
hours annually,
while over
20,000 hours are spent by individuals
at 70 adopted sites and
in two
community gardens a total of over 31,000
hours yearly.

Hill
A non-profit cultural
institution
located
on
28
acres
in
the northwest Bronx, which maintains
award-winning
gardens and greenhouses; manages
an
urban woodland; provides environmental
education
for
City children,
teachers,
and over 110,000 visitors annually;
offers
arts activities
for
children that strengthen environmental
awareness;
conducts projects
in
landscape history and design; and presents
exhibitions, readings,
concerts,
lectures, and workshops that examine
the aesthetic response
to nature.
